My Dad used to say this to me all the time when ever we were gong to a job or when I was doing a job for him, if I forgot a tool he would say it as a reminder and it's one I got often .

I will be the first person in the world to admit that I'm forgetful and it effects my everyday life . I can't leave the house unless check all my pockets for my phone, keys, wallet, inhaler etc. This s no different then when I'm preparing to go to set I check to make sure I have those items on me and I go through and make sure I have EVERYTHING I will need to shoot that day, makeup, tools, brushes, the clapper, script, production notebooks etc.
The first weekend of shooting we had some car trouble and ended up cutting the shooting day short so I grabbed the things I would need to do the office work for Wicked Carnival Productions during the week and went home .
Later that week we were having a phone production meeting to make sure we would have everything we needed for that weekends shoot and the make up scenes from the previous week . I said to Chris bring EVERYTHING I need to set every day because I can't remember what we need , what we MIGHT need and what we DON'T need So I just bring it ALL with me to set every day and I'm all set, right ?
This wasn't always the case as I was very (times 100) forgetful on the set of Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis I forgot one prop that was vital to the plot in the first two murders that we ended up scrapping it completely from the movie . ( I will bring it back n a future project) While attribute the forgetfulness during the production of the first movie to being a first time director, writer, makeup FX artist and actor and having WAY too much to do on set to be able to focus on anyone task .
I learned this lesson and now have Production Assistants to help me out each week . I can focus on making blood, working on FX and making sure I get the shots I want :)
Lessons on set happen quickly and I'm always learning and I love that about this industry no matter how long you're in it you never stop learning . Remember to always check your gear bag, recheck it and right before you put it n the car check it a third time just to be sure, you'll thank yourself at least once for learning and executing this practice when you have the extra clips for the green screen on set that you packed last minute the night before ...
STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
