As the horror world knows Gunnar Hansen passed away this weekend and it has rocked the genre hard.
Mr. Hansen was best known as Leatherface from the 1974 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre directed by Toby Hooper. I had actually reached out to Mr. Hansen's rep about possibly working with him on Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis but never heard back from the agent, it would have been amazing to work with a horror ICON like Mr. Hansen on my first film..
It has been a tough year for Horror fans we have suffered many losses to our genre. We all deal with loss in different ways, as a film maker and writer it's an interesting position I find myself in because I'm a student of the game, I love horror movies and slashers are my favorite when the horror community loses someone it's alot like a death in the family. Horror fans are the most loyal fans of any genre of film and when one of us falls we have MILLIONS of others to puck us up and help us carry on.
I will put a tribute to Mr. Hansen into a future film as many of you know I always look for ways to pay tribute to the horror genre in my films.
RIP Mr.Hansen You will be missed but NEVER forgotten by the Worldwide horror community.
