The second person gave me the feedfack that "the story is great but some of the characters either don't have enough to do or in some cases have too much to do" going further to say "Some characters can be cut out completely while others can have their roles cut down to eliminate some pages of useless dialog"
Another friend after reading my script said to me "There's too much business being handled" I said WTF does that mean? he replied "There's too much happening the movie loses steam if there is too much business being done in the script"
I reread my script from begining to end (For what seems like the 500th time) and I don't see what they see, to me everything in the script moves the story forward and all of the "business" in the script needs to be there for the purpose of moving the story along.
What I took away from this was that my story is solid and works but my script is too busy and too long with un needed characters just filling pages with useless dialog. so as much as I hate to do it I'm going to do a rewrite using most of this script but removing useless characters and their dialog.
I would love to hear from fans about this . Do you thing 120 pages is too long for a slasher? Do you think 120 pages is perfect for a slasher film it it all works with the flow of the story? what do horror fans think is "useless dialog" or what makes a "Useless character" ?
