I was watching the Friday The 13th remake last night with my wife and something hit me, I really like the style of the film and since I made Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis, I have noticed the different styles of filming movies.
I started to think about this and thought back to the original films of the "Big Three" Slashers Friday The 13th, ANOES and Halloween. they ALL had their own style of filming and I think that was something that I never really looked at as a fan of the genre, I was simply watching a movie that I loved and once I had wrapped Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis and started interacting with all the awesome horror fans worldwide it became clear to me that this was my new career and something that I want to get better at with each film I release, I want Sins of Man II : Vengeance to be the film that sets the tone for my film making style.
I have had a few fans ask me if I plan on bringing more blood, guts and gore into future films because " I went light on those elements" in Rise of Mortis and I feel that alot of people had expectations of what the film was supposed to me and what actually was released wasn't what was expected, from day one I said there wouldn't be much blood, gut and gore in the movie because I'm a fan of the approach John Carpenter took in his ground breaking film, 1978's Halloween where less is more and all the blood that is shown should mean something.
While I can't say too much about what Sins of Man II : Vengeance is about or how much blood, guts and gore will be in the film, I can say this much, you will see character development in the returning cast members, which I feel is more important then blood, guts and gore because you want to care about the characters, you want to hate some of them and you always sort of root for the killer in a weird way, I want to bring all of those emotions to the movie and I want fans to feel free to express their enjoyment as well as dislike of all my films, I welcome it because it makes me a better storyteller and film maker to have fans give me both the good and bad news, I'm a professional and I can take it if someone doesn't like my work as well aas take great pride when I get kind words about the movie .
I have learned alot since releasing my first film and I can't wait to get started on filming Sins of Man II : Vengeance which will be released on DVD in the fall of 2016:)
