By : Jamie Santamore Some people would think that after awhile I would know when to quit after having now a FIFTH crowdfunding campaign not reach it's goal (Four for Rise of Mortis and one for Vengeance) Yet here I a still moving forward with Vengeance as planned after only having raised $230.00 dollars from the campaign, why you ask ? because I know that Vengeance is a good film with an amazing story, great characters and an awesome cast behind it .
Will the lack of public funding force us to change some things in the script, more then likely but the story won't change some of the special effects and makeup FX will likely change but the movie itself will remain the same so the story is there and you would be suprised what you can do with very little money when you have a TEAM of people behind you that believe n what you're trying to accomplish . I'm big on story carrying the movie along with strong acting performances, that's what I look for when I watch a movie. The kills are important of course but I don't think they are the biggest thing in a movie . We have some cool kills planned for Vengeance that we will try our hardest to keep the way they are written in the script but if cuts are made we tried to do our best . Even though we didn't reach our goal we will still bring you Sins of Man II : Vengeance with MORE blood, MORE Gore and MORE Violence because I want this movie to be BIGGER and BETTER then Rise of Mortis and when the credits roll at the end of the movie I want you to be waiting to see how it all ends with Sins of Man III : Tribulation !! STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) By : Jamie Santamore We start shooting part II of the Sins of Man trilogy on Sunday May 1st and we all excited to start we have all had time to learn the script .
As a Production company and team we are much more prepared to tackle this film then we were a year ago when we filmed Rise of Mortis . While there are some last minute things that have to be worked out we will be ready to go on Sunday May 1st and the release date for the DVD will be Halloween 2016 ! We will be doing some promotional work for the movie after shooting as well DETAILS COMING SOON !! THANK YOU to my amazing CAST and CREW for being a part of this project ! THANK YOU Chris Fyfe for being the man to keep me on course to make this happen . A HUGE THANK YOU to the Horror Fans across the globe for their continued support of Wicked Carnival Productions and the Sins of Man Trilogy !!! STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) After the events of last weekend I've had alot more time to think then I have in years which isn't a good thing most of the time because I tend to over think things . I've been so busy trying to make Wicked Carnival Productions a reality and launch the Sins of Man trilogy that I don't really over think things I just act because this is a fast paced business and I haven't really had the chance to think about the future and what I would like to see happen .This blog will talk about what the future holds for Wicked Carnival Productions .... By : Jamie Santamore I've had alot of time to think not just about the loss of my brother but about how things are going and how I want them to go, when you lose someone close to you it makes you stop everything on a dime and think about all the things you are "too busy" to think about until life or in this case death comes along an knocks you off course . When this crazy dream started back in 2013 I thought I could do this with alittle help and motivation in the right direction and I quickly found out that I had no friends in the industry to help me, no equipment to speak of that was of high quality . I didn't know if I could write a compelling story or hell if I could even write a screenplay for that matter . I had written the fan script for Halloween III but nothing to that point where I would consider thinking it to the next level and making a script into a movie until I wrote Wicked Carnival . I had made a few friends (twitter friends) in the world of writing that were editors and writers themselves so I passed the script for Wicked Carnival to them and they loved it and that was the motivation I needed to try to make this happen so I took the script to another friend who was good with money and he took a loot at the cost to make this movie and came up with a number north of $100,000 dollars which floored me . Think about this for a minute I had a script that was by all accounts amazing but would cost upwards of $100,000 dollars to make so I was back at square one when one of my friends said "Try crowdfunding to raise money to make a movie" so I looked into a few companies like Kickstarter and Indiegogo and started a campaign and as you might know I became a statistic with my first failed campaign . So I had a great script, no money and a failed crowdfunding campaign which wasn't much to move forward with. I shelved Wicked Carnival and started writing as much as possible I wrote action scripts and ran into the same issues I did with Wicked Carnival too much great idea and no money . so I started writing (yuck) romantic drama which I enjoy I just never thought I would write these types of films . I wrote a script about a fan meeting and falling in love with his celebrity crush t was a classic boy meets girl, girl falls for girl then boy loses girl and boy will do anything to get girl back . I knew my heart was in horror and it always has been, I knew I had the mind to write slasher films I just needed a good idea that could work in a low budget / no budget format and if you think about it the possibilities are almost endless with what you can do with very little to work with Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis is proof of that . Now here we are getting ready to shoot Sins of Man II : Vengeance in ten days after running another unsuccessful campaign on indiegogo.com (I really suck at crowdfunding) we have about $230 dollars to make a feature length slasher movie ... we will work our asses off to make this movie as good as we can with the money we have available to us people will be working for free paying for their own food and travel etc because we failed again to raise money for another project . It's frustrating at times when you have 100's and even 1,000's of people (on a global scale) telling you that your movie is a good idea and they can't wait to see it but they don't help you make it happen . 1,348 people have visited the campaign page and if every person donated just $5 we would be almost at out goal. I know to some folks $5 is either not enough or too much money but it really can make all the difference in the world when we're here trying to make something to horror fans across the globe . The thing I dislike about crowdfunding is people who are famous, have famous friends and all the connections in the world use it to fund their projects and people like me who are starting from the ground up can't get funding because Rob Zombie (31), Stephen Amell (Code 8), Super Troopers 2 or whom ever is running a campaign and they already have the fame and money to do whatever they want . Imagine what I could do with 10, 20, 50 or 100 thousand dollars ?? I believe I've talked about it in another blog before but if I could get $100,000 dollars together I wouldn't use it al to make ONE movie I would make FIVE movies with the budget of $20,000 dollars each . I think some people are confused as to why crowdfunding is the only way we have to raise funds for our projects, I don't have a bunch of friends that will lend me money for a movie, they will give me their time and the use of their home to shoot in but not money . I don't have amazing credit so a bank loan isn't a possibility. I simply need to get enough money together to kick Wicked Carnival Productions off and get the movie finished and keep the company afloat and moving towards the next project and hopefully at some point the money will take care of itself . The future on one hand looks bright with many projects on the table but oh the other hand the future looks dark with all these projects on the table and no funding to help them get made . I have said that money isn't the only motivation I have for starting Wicked Carnival Productions and making slasher movies but money is needed to make these films happen and EVERY penny that is raised during our campaigns goes towards making the movie . what I would like to do is make enough money from the DVD sales of Sins of Man II : Vengeance to be able to make the next film without having to fully depend on crowdfunding to make it happen . I guess I don't know what the future holds exactly but then again who does, right ? I know I want to make movies as long as I can and to do that I need help from my friends and family and the amazing fans around the world to make films for you to enjoy . Chris Fyfe is the best business partner I could ever have asked for he helped me put Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis out on DVD and is helping put Vengeance together and out on DVD this Halloween . I love what I do and will continue to do until I can't do it anymore weather that's due to a lack of ideas or a lack of funding remains to be seen ..... If you would like to DONATE to Sins of Man II : Vengeance you still have SIX DAYS LEFT !! CLick the button, make a donation and pick up a cool perk ! THANK YOU !! STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
By : Jamie Santamore Due to the death of my brother I will not be posting a movie review this weekend I will try to make it up next week but I can't make any promises as myself and my family deal with the grief of our loss .
Shooting of Sins of Man II : Vengeance is still set to start on May 1st but I feel I need to step away from things while I deal with the grief of losing my only sibling . Thank you for understanding and your continued support . STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) By : Jamie Santamore As we draw closer to the start of shooting Sins of Man II : Vengeance this where things start to become very hectic in the office with finalizing shooting schedule trying to line up everyone schedules with their personal schedules due to birthdays, family events them being involved in other projects etc.
I'm a very easy person to work with in terms of scheduling around people because we are all have lives and families and things we do outside of film making but we're also all working towards the same goal of finishing Sins of Man II : Vengeance and releasing it on Halloween . We have assembled a group of people who are all very much in tune with each other and what is expected of them when on set. We have 7 days on the schedule currently and a few extra dates reserved for re shoots and in case we need to extend the shooting . I like to think of it as controlled chaos because it never really get out of control, I have become very good at adapting to changes quickly and it's a skill that comes in very handy on a movie set becuase things can change so quickly. Our final table read is tonight and I have had a few cast members say that can't make it which sucks because I would like the cast to all meet and get to know each other but I understand people have other commitments with kids and family or work etc. we will be ready to go on May 1st and that's what's important above everyone being at a table read . I hope and pray that this shoot will go smoother then Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis did, I'm more prepared and will have my right hand man there so there shouldn't be much if any arm chair directing going on this time around, I know what I wrote, speak your lines they way they are written and everything will be fine. the only one who is allowed to improve their lines is me because I'm an actor by default and I even thought I wrote them I can't remember them . One of the Many reasons I'm a director and not an actor LOL . As we get into the crazy time of preproduction (the end) I know we will all work together to make this movie happen and we hope that you fans will be happy with the finished project . STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) By Jamie Santamore Sins of Man II : Vengeance is in full swing now with our final table read set for THIS FRIDAY !! the shooting schedule has been hammered out and we start shooting on May 1st ! It will be a fast paced shoot but the cast and crew are excited to get to work and we can't wait to bring you the 2nd chapter of the Sins of Man trilogy !!
THANK YOU ALL for your continued support :) STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) I have been working on a * TOP SECRET * Project for a few weeks now and I have been keeping it pretty close to the chest ... but I would like to play a game with my fans and supporters ... I will give you THREE Clues about the project in this blog By : Jamie Santamore
I like to work hard and make projects that you will enjoy but I also have a side of me that likes to joke and have fun and that is were this little games comes from and yes I could just tell you about the *TOP SECRET* project but were is the fun in that ?? I thought making a game out of it would be fun and maybe might bring in a few new people who like to play work games and word scramble games with that in mind here we go ... Clue #1 ... These letter's spell out THREE WORDS with each word having one capital letter. d t w i m h n i n e t e h o This should be fun if you love these types of games, I hope you have trying to figure it out . Now long time fans know how passionate I am and people that know me know that I'm hard headed and I never really put a project on the shelf completely and I'm always looking for a way to make ALL my projects happen with that in mind .... Clue #2 This *Top Secret* Project is something that I have talked about in blogs and social media in the past . I'm a big believer in combining ideas if they make the project better overall, I'm a huge fan of Freddy VS Jason because it made both franchises better and was an amazing film to witness in the theater opening weekend. I have such a good relationship with my Executive Producer Chris Fyfe that we will often work out issues on set because we both want what's best for the project, with that in mind .... Clue #3 I'm combining Two things to make this project happen one I have talked about and one that is very near and dear to my heart ... (if you read my blogs this clue will be the most meaningful to you) I hope you all play along and have fun doing it, this is just a fun game I want to play with my fan base because I love you all and I want to have some fun .... GOOD LUCK Horror Hounds !! STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :) I often get asked about using crowdfunding, why I use it, why the campaigns "fail" and what I mean by Wicked Carnival Productions just needs an opportunity . In this blog I will explain these things to you and hopefully make some sense along the way ..... Why we use crowdfunding .....Wicked Carnival Productions uses crowdfunding because I'm not made of money but I have the passion to make movies for fans just like myself and without the money to do it I obviously need help to do it, I can't get loans from banks because I have nothing to begin with. The whole point of crowdfunding is to build a community of people who believe in the things you are trying to do weather it's movies, web series, art, comics, music books etc. everyone on indiegogo or kickstarter needs help to make their projects happen . I understand we are competing for peoples donations and that's just part of the game but what I don't understand is why do you have to try to cut other peoples projects down to attempt to gain more backers for your project ? What's the point ? to me it's just bad business practice and why would someone want to plunk their hard earned money down on a campaign that does such things, I may never know the answer do that ... I run a clean, honest campaign and yet have never had a "successfully" funded campaign . The reason I put quotes around the word successfully is because I have raised money sure and made adjustments to my script to make the movie the best I could because unlike other film makers when they don't get funding, I refuse to quit, we made Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis on a budget of $700 dollars and most of that money came out of my own pocket, why because I knew Rise of Mortis was something good in the horror genre and I don't quit . Rise of Mortis came out well for what we had to work with on $700 dollars IMAGINE what we can do with Vengeance with a $7,000 dollar budget !! Wicked Carnival Productions simply needs an opportunity.....This might confuse some people as to why we need an opportunity because we successfully released our first film on DVD last year and that's true, the opportunity I'm talking about is how far we can go if we didn't have to run a crowdfunding campaign for each film. If we could have a single fully funded campaign and not have to cut corners on productions I feel would would generate enough money from a SINGLE DVD release that we would be able to build Wicked Carnival Productions and not be required to run crowdfunding campaigns over and over and in turn we would be able to help other people with their campaigns with some of the money we raise and lift other films up so they can be released on time and on budget . We are looking to our fans and horror fans to help us get that opportunity not only make Wicked Carnival Productions a stand alone company but to give us the opportunity to help other companies and artists create their work as well . PLEASE Donate to our campaign we have 17 DAYS LEFT CLICK the Button below to make a donation and help Wicked Carnival Productions create an amazing Slasher flick ! THANK YOU :) STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
By Jamie Santamore I have been getting alot of questions about the phrase I write at the end of all my blogs and I think I need to explain it so people understand that it's not my latest catch phase it's a way of thinking that I want to convey to people. I'm going to break it down into two parts and tell you what each one means, here we go ... Far too often in the entertainment industry people lose sight of what's important and how they got to be so "famous" and who it is that made them a household name, the fans . Everyone started somewhere weather it was dumb commercials, b-movies, horror movies no one just steps into a big Hollywood blockbuster and becomes an overnight sensation it just doesn't work that way, Sorry to burst your bubble but someone had to do it. everyone started doing small jobs and getting no recognition for it. Now I want to be clear and say I'm NOT comparing my career to an A List stars because I'm not anywhere near as famous as they are. 95% of the A List stars of today have forgotten that the fans of their films are the reason they are famous. if we didn't plunk down $8, $10, $15 dollars to go to their movies they wouldn't be making $20 Million dollars a movie . They wouldn't live in huge mansions drive the best cars etc. This is where the first part of the phrase comes in .... STAY HUMBLE : No matter how much money you're making, How many Movies you have under your belt, How many vacation homes you have, how many cars you own etc. Stay Humble and remember that you can use your fame to left others up instead of looking down at the "little people" because weather you want to admit it or not the "little people" are the main reason you are where you are in life. When you're out with Friends if a fan asks for an autograph sign a napkin for them or if they have a picture , DVD whatever sign it, if they ask you for a picture with them, how long does it take to snap a picture ? if you don't want to be bothered by your fans stay home. when I leave my house I bring business card and a sharpie with me, some one might want an autograph, or to take a picture with me or simply have a short conversation with me because of this I leave early for appointment and always go to the market early , I don't hide from people I welcome them because I understand that part of fame is being accessible to your fans or am I getting this all wrong ?? Someone told me when I first created Wicked Carnival Productions and I started working on getting Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis ready to shoot to always remember this "You are only as good as your last project" that has stuck with me and that is where the second part of the phrase comes in ... STAY HUNGRY : I know that I can't rest on Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis on it's success or failure and I haven't really taken a day off since I wrote it, I'm always working on something weather it's spreading the word about Wicked Carnival Productions, Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis or the upcoming sequel Sins of Man II : Vengeance, I'm working on SIX different projects right now, running two websites, 3 twitter accounts, 3 Facebook pages working 15 - 18 hours a day sleep is my enemy because I'm Hungry to succeed I will not stop working until I start getting my work out to the world because I love the genre so much and I know I can make these films for YOU the fans who have helped me get to where I am right now and who will continue to support me and Wicked Carnival Productions I will NEVER lose sight of that because the fans have made me who I am and without you I'm just a guy with a dream but with YOU I'm a film maker / writer / director / actor . In Closing : I want to say THANK YOU for joining me on this crazy journey and for getting Wicked Carnival Productions off the ground my fans are so very important to me and can't say THANK YOU enough. If you want to join the Sins of Man Team Please Donate to our campaign we have 17 days left to raise as much as we can to make Sins of Man II : Vengeance a killer kick ass Slasher movie for all of you .... TOGETHER we can #MakeSlasherGreatAgain !! STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
